The Very Basics of Seed Saving

The Hansberry Garden & Nature Center 5150 Wayne Ave, Philadelphia, PA, United States

Seed saver Goda Trakumaite will cover the basics that you need to get started with saving seeds, and hopefully will inspire you to pursue a lifetime of further learning and experimenting! We’ll focus on some common veggie crops like tomatoes, peppers, squash, and beans, but we’ll also touch on native plants and herbs. Learn more about the speaker, the garden, and seed saving in general here. This is a rain or shine event, so please dress for the weather.

Native Seed Saving

FDR Park Pickle Ball Courts, Philadelphia, PA, United States

Join naturalist Anisa George in gathering seeds from some of the many native plants that can be found in the South Philly Meadows at FDR Park. You can bring home seeds for your own pots and gardens or gather for LandHealth who will cultivate them at our native plant nursery for propagating throughout the city. We will walk a 2 mile loop. All ages are welcome. Please bring your own water bottle and dress for the weather and to protect yourself from poison ivy (also a native plant!) exposure.
