Philly Bike Ride invites you to a completely car-free and non-competitive bike ride to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, serving as a new tradition to recognize our work and legacy, bring the community together, and support our youth cycling program! Pedal past the historic sites of Center City and Independence Hall, enjoy water views along Penn’s Landing and Kelly Drive, and take in charming neighborhoods such as Manayunk. Whether you own a bike or not, all are welcome to ride with us! See you on October 15, on this unique opportunity to bike through our vibrant city on 20 miles of completely car-free streets. Join the PHS Tree Tenders ( https://phsonline.org/ ), Philabundance ( https://www.philabundance.org/about/?gclid=CjwKCAjwhNWZBhB_EiwAPzlhNi4LIzlo-Y09kBVq762GJBD7iXGgOKLZI2Cd6oJtZUGJBM_1DyFIgBoCS5oQAvD_BwE ), Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, ( https://bicyclecoalition.org/ )and the Better Bike Share Partnership ( https://betterbikeshare.org/ )for a tree planting and community tour! This ride will be exploring the greenery of the North Philly to help promote the importance of trees and environmental stewardship. This ride will feature a tree planting, visits to community gardens and local murals, and provide information from our partners. This will be a leisurely 2-mile bike tour, suitable for cyclists of all levels. Like all our rides, it will be guided by trained staff.
The Invitation: Join the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, the National Youth Bike Council, and the Haverford College Center for Peace and Global Citizenship for the Main Line to Manayunk Bike 'n Bite. The Bike 'n Bite offers free registration, including a post-ride meal. The Ride: Depart from the Haverford College Visitor Parking Lot and traverse the Main Line Greenway on low stress routes, arriving at Manayunk via the Manayunk Bridge Trail. Take a break while learning a bit about the recent regional activism and advocacy that has transformed an old steel rail bridge and car-centric culture into increasingly safe
