We will supply the pumpkin along with all the specialized equipment you need for carving, as well as patterns and ideas to help you make a spectacular pumpkin. Join the Schuylkill Center For Environmental Education for spooktacular mystery filled hikes and hayrides through a moonlit forest. There will also be an opportunity to enjoy s’mores by the campfire, food trucks, an outdoor movie screening, games and other activities. The event also features an up-close look at some native nocturnal animals to celebrate the spirit of the season! NOTE: Due to limited space, registration is required. Over 90 Philly parks need help planting trees and flower bulbs, collecting leaves for compost, and cleaning up after a busy summer season.

Shake off the cold with a hot bowl of Swedish pea soup at the American Swedish Historical Museum! Ärtsoppa, or Swedish yellow pea soup, is the traditional Thursday night supper in Sweden during the winter that dates back to medieval times. Watch as they tap the trees, collect the sap, and create the syrup. Learn about the Indigenous origins of maple sugaring and how the process has continued through to today. Once your mouth starts watering, stop by Philly Waffle Cabin's food truck and enjoy one of their delicious Belgian waffles! Join an experienced guide to explore the beauty of “bare naked trees” in winter. Without their leaves, deciduous trees reveal a variety of shapes and sculptures to admire. The tour features weeping, round, pyramidal, and vase-shaped trees, and highlights the many colors and textures of tree bark. Celebrate Easter like a Swede at the American Swedish Historical Museum’s Easter Family Day! Join us on Sunday, March 24th, from 2-4 pm to experience Swedish Easter traditions. In Sweden, Easter kicks off with a trick-or-treat-like candy hunt on Maundy Thursday. Children dress up as Easter witches with long skirts, headscarves, painted red cheeks, and freckles and go from house to house, wishing people Happy Easter. Many people have heard an owl, but few have ever seen one. Mt. Cuba’s varied landscapes and topography provide the ideal habitats for three of Delaware’s native owl species – the barred, great horned, and Eastern screech – and winter is the best time to spot them roosting in our trees. Owls are nocturnal so join us as we search for them just after dusk. Following a brief introductory lecture, we’ll head into the garden and listen for their unique calls. Dress for the weather. Hellerick’s Adventure Farm is open for the 2025 season on Saturday, April 5-Sunday, April 6 from 10am-6pm. For its second weekend of the season, the 30-acre Family Farm will offer its six signature attractions – barnyard mini-golf, the aerial adventure, silo climbing wall, goat yoga the goat experience and tractor rides. They will also be accepting reservations for birthday parties and field trips. Admission is $14.99, while children under 34 inches tall are always free! Parking is also free. Visitors can BYO their own food. Reservations are strongly recommended for signature activities.

In Sweden, Easter kicks off with a trick-or-treat-like candy hunt on Maundy Thursday. Children dress up as Easter witches with long skirts, headscarves, painted red cheeks, and freckles and go from house to house, wishing people Happy Easter.
