The residency is designed for artists in Greater Philadelphia who work in the medium of wood and is a collaboration between the Museum for Art in Wood and NextFab. An exhibition of the work created over the two-month-long program will be presented at the NextFab North Philadelphia location. Michael Ferrin is an artist from Southwest Philadelphia. Working primarily in wood, he employs his training as a furniture maker and his education as an artist to explore the connection

  • “Expedition Reclamation” Film Screening

    Join Philadelphia Outward Bound School at The Discovery Center (3401 Reservoir Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19146) between 7-8:30pm for a FREE, in-person screening of the documentary Expedition Reclamation. Expedition Reclamation tells the stories of a dozen women of color and how they formed powerful relationships with the outdoors, challenging the definition of who is typically seen as “outdoorsy,” and seeking to build a reciprocal relationship with the land that honors local indigenous cultures and peoples. The film will be followed by a panel discussion with women of color and how they have created a connection with nature right here in Philadelphia.

    The Song Spot music lessons, which recently opened in Gayborhood in March 2023 is hosting an open house for the community to see the new studio space and meet our instructors! Headquartered in Nashville, our vocal coaches have worked on Music Row and expanded to downtown Philadelphia in hopes of bringing Nashville to Philly's front door! The studio hosts open mics, workshops, and songwriting meet ups to help connect the musicians in Philadelphia's vibrant music community. A woman-owned business, we are working on sharing the knowledge gained in Music City and help the singer-songwriters of Philadelphia further their music careers.
