Vernon Park Rain Garden Cleanup & Maintenance

Join us to care for our very first rain garden at Germantown’s beautiful and historic Vernon Park. We’ll weed and pick up litter in the rain garden with our partner, Friends of Vernon Park. We work with FOVP to maintain this garden of native plants, which cleans and slows down runoff pollution before it enters our stormwater system, creeks, and rivers. This site is part of the Philadelphia Water Department Soak It Up program. All tools and supplies will be provided, including work gloves (though you’re welcome to bring your own). TTF Spring BioBlitz 2023

Join TTF Watershed Partnership for a week-long BioBlitz within the TTF Watershed in Philadelphia and Montgomery County! Starting on Saturday, April 22, volunteers can use the free iNaturalist smartphone app to document wildlife observations across the TTF Watershed and add them to our growing TTF project page: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/tookany-tacony-frankford-watershed-wildlife Participate from anywhere in the watershed on your own using the app. The BioBlitz will end on Monday, May 1 when we’ll see how many species we were all able to spot and identify. There are more than 300 neighborhood parks across the City of Philadelphia, and this spring over 90 of them will be hosting clean-up service days Saturday, May 13 through Sunday, May 21, for Love Your Park Week. Love Your Park is a program of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy, in partnership with the Park Friends Network, made up of volunteer groups who steward their neighborhood parks. Bells Mill Clean-up

Meeting at Forbidden Drive & Bells Mill Road This Saturday, we’re setting our sights on Bells Mill Road and it’s parallel tributary. Bells Mill is the only road that runs through the park and crosses Forbidden Drive. Due to the high volume of traffic on this road, it’s often littered with trash. In partnership with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy, Park Friends Groups across the city will be hosting volunteer events the weekend of November 10th - 12th for Love Your Park Fall Weekend 2023. Over 90 Philly parks need help planting trees and flower bulbs, collecting leaves for compost, and cleaning up after a busy summer season.
