Working from live specimens, participants will have a chance to closely observe and recreate the structures that make each plant unique. We are excited to announce the return of local artist/photographer, and shop community favorite, CJ Harker on September 16th, 17th, and 18th in celebration of the Fall Equinox. CJ will be setting up his pop-up studio in Moon + Arrow for three days of capturing and making beautiful portraits through the Wet Plate Collodion process. This historical process is like watching magic; leaving you with a tangible, beautiful photographic heirloom printed on tin. The perfect activity to share with your loved one or a special treat for yourself!
Let’s make some art using the nature around us! Using a variety of materials and techniques, this gathering will be all about creating prints from leaves, flowers, and whatever may inspire you. Materials will be provided, or bring something to share with the group in this open-ended, community-centered creative experience.
Learn the ins and outs of creating mosaic art as a healing practice. Inspiration is sure to be easily found as you create a mosaic tile of your own. You may keep your tile or have it considered for inclusion in a larger installation that lives at Bartram’s Garden as a symbol of hope, renewal, and the dreams we have for our community. Ursula Sternberg: Daydream is a celebration of the career of Philadelphia area artist, the late Ursula Sternberg. Sternberg’s life and career spanned many mediums and multiple continents taking her from Nazi occupied Germany to Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. From the 1970s to her death in 2000, Sternberg was actively involved in the Philadelphia art scene, fostering maker spaces that brought together the local community of artists for an opportunity to socialize, inspire, and be inspired. Show the pollinators some love this February during the first ever Herbs & Crafts workshop at The Random Tea Room. Our resident artist Anastasia Alexandrin will be demonstrating how she sows her winter garden using up-cycled materials. The Song Spot music lessons, which recently opened in Gayborhood in March 2023 is hosting an open house for the community to see the new studio space and meet our instructors! Headquartered in Nashville, our vocal coaches have worked on Music Row and expanded to downtown Philadelphia in hopes of bringing Nashville to Philly's front door! Take your photography to the next level! In this class for beginners, you will learn the basics of digital wildlife photography and ways to apply manual setting adjustments in the field. We will explore important terminology and troubleshooting techniques so that you can capture images with your own artistic style.
