Zero-waste Weaving: Wall Hangings

January 28 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join us for an afternoon of up-cycling yarn, scraps, and nontraditional materials into a beautiful woven wall hanging!

Do you have lots of yarn and fabric scraps lying around that you don’t want to toss but are not sure what to do with? Curious about weaving but not sure where to start? Join us for an afternoon of upcycling those scraps into a beautiful woven wall hanging! In this 3-hour workshop you will learn the basics of hand weaving and will get to create a unique wall hanging to take home. We will explore different options for loom weaving, and you will be able to create your own loom from ordinary household items such as picture frames, cardboard and other materials.

No experience needed; all skill levels welcome.

Yarn, fabric and all materials will be provided, but if you have your own materials that you would like to use, please feel free to bring them.

The Location: This event is held at The Craft Coven’s space in Cherry Street Pier. We are located in studio 14 on the second floor. Unfortunately there are no elevators to the second floor. You will need to go up a very large flight of steps to get to the second floor. The space is heated/cooled inside the pier and there are bathrooms located on site (on the first floor). There are often installations and events around the pier, and the larger space is open from 12-9pm everyday.
