World Day of Remembrance Philadelphia

Remember. Support. Act.
The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is a global event held every third Sunday of November to honor those who have lost their lives or been impacted by roadway crashes. This year on November 16, communities across the globe, including several dozen in the United States, will gather together to demand actions towards improving roadway safety and to uplift proven strategies, including redesigning dangerous roads, reducing speed limits, and improving vehicle design.
We will hear from local elected officials, city staff, community leaders, and families who have lost their loved ones to traffic violence.
Slowing Down Saves Lives. With the recent expansion of the Automated Speed Cameras to 5 new corridors, more communities will benefit from slower speeds along roads like Broad St. However, because the legislation only allowed for 5 additional corridors, roads like Lehigh Avenue are missing out on life saving enforcement technology. We will remember the 109 people lost in Philadelphia since last November, talk about solutions that could save more lives around Fairhill Square Park, improve the livability of the neighborhood, and allow the already vibrant area to thrive.
11 am press conference followed by lunch at 12 pm.
