Join VU PHL as we help Books Through Bars sort/process books to send to incarcerated people for free
Books Through Bars has been sending free books to incarcerated people in six mid-Atlantic states (Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia) for over 30 years.
They do their best to send the books people ask them for, whatever those may be. By fulfilling all requests to the best of their ability, they work to support self-determination, self-education, and healing behind bars.
By donating books, you can help ensure that incarcerated people receive the books they need!
What we will be doing on Saturday, March 8th , 11:30AM – 1 :30PM:
You’ll have the chance to review heartfelt letters, select the perfect books for each request, and help prepare orders by invoicing and packing. With a variety of tasks available each day, we ensure your experience is both engaging and accommodating—including tailored support for mobility needs. Come be a part of something special!
Notes ahead of the event!
Face masks are required for this event.
After volunteering, we will go to a local bar/restaurant for a celebratory afterjawn!
