Voices for Change: Empowering Climate Change Communicators

January 18 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Engage with a leading expert on climate change communications and its role in cultivating public and political will for climate solutions.

On January 18, we invite you to an event featuring distinguished University Professor Edward Maibach, Director of the Center for ClimateChange Communication at George Mason University—a university-based “think-and-do tank.” Professor Maibach will illuminate some key insights into public understanding of climate communication that have emerged from the Yale/George Mason “Climate Change in the American Mind” surveys conducted twice yearly since 2008. He will also discuss his center’s initiatives to activate and support trusted climatecommunicators in communities across America including TV weathercasters, health professionals, and conservatives who are concerned about climate change. This event is a unique opportunity to engage with a leading expert on climate communication and its role in cultivating public and political will for climate solutions.

Edward Maibach, MPH, PhD is a Distinguished University Professor and Director of the Center for Climate Change Communication at George Mason University. His research illuminates public understanding of climate change and strategies for enhancing it. Ed is a Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science, a Member of the National Academy of Medicine, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Global Climate and Health Alliance. He has previously served as the Worldwide Director of Social Marketing at Porter Novelli and Associate Director of the National Cancer Institute.
