Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Piazzolla’s Tango at Settlement Queen Village

April 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons meets Piazzolla’s L’Histoire du Tango—from Baroque brilliance to fiery Argentine rhythms.

This program presents two great examples of program music. Vivaldi’s musical depiction of the four seasons of the year is one of the first examples of program music in history. On the other hand, L’Histoire du Tango creates an image of the evolution of the Argentinian tango throughout the 20th century, according to Piazzolla. They are both very colorful and dynamic music works.

Luigi Mazzocchi will lead a string ensemble in these two works, including his own arrangement of L’Histoire du Tango. He will be joined by his colleagues Gared Crawford, Joseph Kauffman, Ralph Allen, Jie Jin, and Brent Edmonson.
