Valley Talk – Exploring the Trees that Shape Wissahickon Valley Park with Andrew Conboy

October 15, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

In person at the Valley Green Inn or online on Zoom
Wissahickon Valley Park is home to a great diversity of tree species, from the towering tulip poplar and the spiky devil’s walkingstick to mighty oaks. In this Valley Talk, we’ll explore common native and invasive species, uncover intriguing remnants from the old nursery, and learn the fundamentals of tree identification. We’ll also discuss the ecological impact of these species—both beneficial and harmful—while gaining insights into restoration ecology.
Andrew is a local urban forester and ISA-certified arborist who is passionate about trees, native plants, and the natural world. Through his social media platforms and his ecological restoration non-profit, Community Canopy Project, he hopes to encourage a deeper integration of nature into the spaces where we live, work, and relax. His user-friendly content on social media platforms (@Andrew_The_Arborist) aims to educate and inspire people to reconnect with the natural world around them.
