The Wissahickon in November with Debbie Hoellein, Jim McClory, and Doug Gibson

December 5 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Meeting at Cresheim Valley Pergola (see map here)
There should be street parking available on Germantown Avenue as well as along nearby neighborhood streets.
Please note that there will not be bathrooms available along our route.
Join Debbie, Jim, and Doug as we hike a less-traveled area, the Cresheim Trail. We’ll be appreciating some of the work the Friends of the Cresheim Trail as well as Friends of the Wissahickon have done in this part of the park. In September we visited the Henry Houston Statue and this month we will see the historic sites of Buttercup Cottage and Lake Surprise, two endeavors with which Houston was involved. An interesting tulip tree is on our route and we’ll take note of how our favorite and least favorite plants look in late Autumn.
This hike is over some steep and rocky trails, so be prepared. Children over the age of 12 years are welcome when accompanied by an adult, but please—no dogs except for service animals.
Note: This hike was originally scheduled for November 21st.
Distance: 4 miles
Level: Difficult (many inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Audience: 12 years old and up
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
