Meeting at Rex Avenue Trailhead Kiosk (501-531 Rex Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19118)
Distance: 4.5 miles
Difficulty Level: Difficult (many inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Audience: Ages 12+
Parking: There is limited parking near the kiosk, but there’s plenty more on Seminole Street near the Highland Avenue Train Station about a .4 mile walk down the road. See map for details.
Restrooms: None
Join Trail Ambassadors Debbie Hoellein, Jim McClory, and Paul Neumann on a beautiful Spring hike. Sarah’s Rock and Looking West are on our route as we hike mainly on the east side of the park. We’ll walk over 2 bridges of historical interest, and one of those bridges has had the interest of film makers. We’ll also appreciate what the flora is doing as summer approaches.
Our route is about 4.5 miles and incudes some rocky terrain, so come prepared. Children 12 years of age and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult, but please, no dogs except for service animals.
Registration is required for all events so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org.
