‘Takes a Village Storyhour

Bring the whole family to enjoy tales representing Black and Brown peoples, play, and foster community. We invite elders and griots of the Keepers of the Kulture to support in sharing stories. This is led by Koku-Roko Learning Co-op, where we gather like-minded families; easing the load of parenting and offering a curious space to explore.
Koku-Roko is a Black and brown-led co-operative space for cultural enrichment and liberated learning. We curate child-centered and family-encouraged educational experiences to support the development of creative continuous learners and conscious critical thinkers.
More about d’griot.
d’griot (pronounced “duh-gree-o”) is named in honor of African storytellers and urban slang. A space of story; stories of our ancestors, the magic in the present, and our intent for the future. We are a healing space that offers natural medicinal products, nutrient food and beverage, gallery of local inspiring artists, transformative experiences, and a space to gather for the whole family. d’griot collaborates with the local economy to amplify more light in the ‘hood for the black, brown, and local community. We are currently functioning as a gallery + herb shoppe; hosting events, rentals, and co-working collective.
