Join SBN to announce its first ever ‘Save the Food Challenge’ event announcing more about the program, and how area food businesses can get involved!
Description
On Friday, August 4, SBN will announce its ‘Food Saver Challenge,’ a campaign aimed to increase awareness of the overall impact of surplus and wasted food, offer meaningful and tangible resources for reducing food waste, and build a culture of reducing food waste within Greater Philadelphia with participating partners and businesses. As part of this six-month challenge, local food businesses including restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, and more will have the opportunity to actively monitor and track their progress in reducing, repurposing, and donating food that would otherwise be wasted. Upon completion of the challenge, one business will be selected to receive a cash prize of $5000 and recognition as SBN’s “Food Saver Champion.” More details, including the application, will be released at the launch event.
This event will be open to the media, members of Greater Philadelphia’s food community, business owners, and other participating partners. Light refreshments and networking will begin after the announcement, along with a tour of Sharing Excess’ facility.
