Photography and overgrown cemeteries go together like peanut butter and jelly! Our Photography and Memory tour focuses on the various ways photography has been used to memorialize the dead and to a degree hault the passage of time. If you’re a photographer or photo enthusiast this is the tour for you!!
Shutterbugs of all ages and skill sets are welcome to attend this event. We’ll be moving at a slower pace than usual so you will see – and be able to photograph – all the sights MVC has to offer! The tour will pay particular attention to MVC’s incredible statuary and monuments, and we will be at the peak of the fall season so the ground will be absolutely stunning!
In addition, photo enthusiats will be be treated to a tintype demo by award-winning local photographer, Vanity Tintype.
And be sure to arrive early to take our vintage photo process quiz. Whoever scores highest wins a prize!!!

Please meet at MVC’s main gate. Located at the corner of Ridge and Lehigh Avenues.
The tour will be going offroad. Regardless of weather we strongly recommend wearing comfortable closed-toed shoes.
It is essential to arrive on time. If you arrive late, once the gate is closed and locked, there is no coming back for you.
MVC is in a court-appointed conservatorship. As such, all visitors will need to sign an access waiver. Paperwork will be provided to you upon arrival.
All visitors are required to follow all rules and guidelines set forth by the cemetery’s conservators and by the Friends of Mount Vernon Cemetery. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in immediate expulsion from the grounds without refund, and you will be banned from participating in future MVC public events.
