Philly Nature Journaling Club 09/20/26
September 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us for a loosely guided meet up of the Philly Nature Journaling Club! By popular demand, we are going to Kaskey Park on SUNDAY (note Sunday, not Saturday) September 20th from 10:00am-12:00pm. We will meet on the sidewalk at 425 S University Ave (38th St), Philadelphia, PA 19104 and walk into the park together. We ask that you fill out this form so we can send you detailed meet up instructions a few days before the event.
Please note that as we get closer to the date, if there is harsh weather (precipitation, air quality, or extreme temps), we will send an update email as we pivot to a different location.
Accessibility:
– Please find directions to Kaskey Park on their very handy website HERE – this includes public transit, bikes, cars
– Parking is available on surrounding streets.
– There is a bike rack within the park.
– Bathrooms are NOT available on site. There are a few coffee shops within a 10 min walk of the park. Please plan accordingly, meaning maybe don’t down that second cup of coffee real fast right before you arrive.
– Parking is available on surrounding streets.
– The paths are paved and flat.
What is nature journaling?
In the practice of nature journaling, you use words, pictures, and numbers to collect and record your observations, questions, connections, and explanations on the pages of a notebook. You do not need to be an artist, writer, or a naturalist to begin. These skills can be learned by anyone, and you can develop them with deliberate practice.
What tools we suggests bringing:
- mechanical pencil and/or your favorite drawing pencil(s)
- colored pencils/markers/crayons/watercolors to add some pops of color
- fiber tipped pens like Micron pens
- Erasers: kneaded eraser and hard eraser like a pink eraser or something similar
- hard-back sketchbook that is the largest you feel like hauling around. The hard back cover will support your paper as you take notes and sketch.
- a bag to keep all your tools in
- water bottle/snacks
- Bring a light, portable chair or blanket to sit on
- earbuds with music- feel free to chat while we journal together or block everyone out. All are welcome.
