Neighborhood Jawnts Tour Series: Chinatown
Discover resistance, resilience, and rich culture on the PCDC-led Chinatown Tour in the heart of Philadelphia. This journey through one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods goes far beyond the tourist trail, as Chinatown is a living testament to activism, community, and survival. From iconic historical landmarks and vibrant murals to beloved local restaurants, bustling storefronts, and the homes of the people who keep this neighborhood alive, every stop tells a story. Experience firsthand how Philadelphia’s Chinatown has stood its ground against decades of discrimination to become a fierce, thriving hub of culture and organizing. This tour won’t capture everything, but it will leave you with a deeper appreciation for the history, heart, and ongoing legacy of one of Philadelphia’s most famous communities.

Cost: FREE, registration required.
This tour will include transportation to and from Chinatown, but will be predominantly walking within the neighborhood.
Meeting Point: Independence Visitor Center (599 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19106).
GUESTS ARE NOT ABLE TO MEET THE TOUR GROUP WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, AND MUST MEET AT THE VISTIOR CENTER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOUR.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time. Check-in at the Visitor Center Information Desk when you arrive.
The tour within the neighborhood is approximately 90 minutes with additional time allotted for travel. Your tour will be led by a tour guide and a local tour host from the neighborhood.
Group Size: up to 25. Space is limited, please only reserve a space if you know you are able to attend. Space may be available for walk-up guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you are unable to attend your reserved tour, please cancel your Eventbrite reservation to allow others to enjoy the Jawnt.
Transportation to and from the neighborhood is provided via the Neighborhood Jawnts Bus.
