Natural History Walk at the Upper Roxborough Reservoir Preserve with Kris Soffa and Jin Xu

November 2 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Meeting at the Reservoir on Port Royal Ave & Lare St (see map here)
There is street parking along Port Royal Avenue and Lare Street.
There will not be bathrooms available along our route.
Join us and the Roxborough-Manayunk-Wissahickon Historical Society for a guided walk along the perimeter trail of Philly’s highest park!
Once slated for development, this rare wetland habitat was preserved through more than 20+ years of determined community action beginning with support from Friends of the Wissahickon. The battle was worth it. Today, the Preserve anchors a several- hundred- acre wildlife corridor and offers migrating birds with a vital stopover on the Atlantic Flyway.
Come walk the perimeter trail and experience for yourself why saving this land created such a unique jewel in the Philadelphia Park System.
Please note that the path is flat but uneven with loose rocks and may be covered with leaves.
Distance: 1 mile
Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Audience: 12 years old and up
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
