In this powerful session, artist Mark Loughney delves into the intersection of art and social justice, sharing his journey from incarceration to becoming a nationally recognized advocate for criminal justice reform through his art. The discussion will also promote his acclaimed exhibition Pyrrhic Defeat: A Visual Study of Mass Incarceration at Eastern State Penitentiary, exploring how his portraits of over 800 incarcerated individuals and reform advocates challenge societal perceptions and foster critical conversations about the justice system. Joining Loughney on the panel will be Lauren Zalut, John Lee, and Eddie Ramirez. Mural Arts Social Media and Marketing Manager Darnell Schoolfield will moderate.
