Kea and the Ark was commissioned by ArtYard and premiered to sold-out audiences there in
2023. Since then, the show has been presented to enraptured audiences twice at the Kohler
Foundation in Wisconsin in 2023, and to Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington in 2024.
Join us for the Philadelphia premiere! Mundheim’s puppets have been seen in the Arden’s BFG,
Theatre Exile’s Wolf Play, Ballet X’s Sidd: A Hero’s Journey, PA Ballet’s Jungle Book, West
Chester University’s A Long Christmas Ride Home and White Box Theatre’s many original
productions, including its Barrymore award-winning co-production with the Lantern Theater of
A Child’s Christmas in Wales.
Using electric cello, dance, puppetry, and storytelling, White Box Theatre tells the story of Kea Tawana. Kea built an 86-foot-long, three-story ark single-handedly in Newark’s Central Ward as an act of protest, tenacity, and imagination. Join us for this exquisite and intimate 60-minute performance that’s appropriate for all ages.
