Housing Futures Month Philadelphia Activation

You are invited to a Housing Futures Month Activation on April 19, 2023 at the Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia to celebrate Housing Futures Month and the bold, creative housing models and policies that are shaping Philadelphia’s #HousingFutures!

Housing as health, housing as community, housing as liberatory — that is the future we are working toward. More than 50 years after the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, we continue to build on the promises of this groundbreaking policy to dream, vision, explore, play, and create new housing futures together. Focusing on Housing Futures demands that we reprioritize our values and consider the importance of intergenerational housing stability for Black, Brown and Indigenous families and what that means for radically transforming housing, health and economic systems.

This year, during Housing Futures Month in April, we’re calling on everyone to consider how we can each contribute to designing and implementing housing models that allow everyone the stability and ability to dream about and pursue bold futures at an HFM Activation event in Philadelphia at the Asian Arts Initiative. Join us in-person and meet grassroots organizers and local leaders who are re-imagining our relationships to our homes, communities, and the land we live on.

Light refreshments and light lunch will be served to guests who have RSVP’d.

We strongly encourage people to stay home if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or other illness, and encourage people to take covid tests before attending. Asian Arts Initiative is designed as a mobility accessible facility, with access to all public floors and spaces, and seating accommodations for programmed events. Both non-gendered and individually isolating restrooms are available on each floor, all equipped with changing stations. Building on the promises of the Fair Housing Act, every April, PolicyLink’s Housing Futures Month calls on each of us to consider how we can contribute to designing and implementing housing models that allow everyone the stability and ability to dream about and pursue bold futures.

Housing Futures Month engages people from all backgrounds, including policymakers, housing advocates, developers, architects, and community members, to envision and work towards creating inclusive, affordable, and sustainable housing models for the future.

The goal of Housing Futures Month is to raise awareness of the important role that housing plays in shaping our communities and individual lives, and to encourage collaboration and innovative thinking to address our current and future housing challenges.
