Meeting at Northwestern Avenue and Forbidden Drive
Love reading? Love hiking? Love chatting about books with other hikers? Join us for an afternoon hike and book discussion! Read a book/poem/short story/essay focused on love and giving. You can find a list of books on Amazon or try some of the following suggestions:
The Giving Tree – Shel Silverstein
Tell Me Everything – Elizabeth Strout
The Fault in our Stars – John Green
West with Giraffes – Lynda Rutledge
Small things like These – Claire Keegan
Crossing to Safety – Wallace Stegner
We will walk on both Forbidden Drive and the wooded trails around Andorra during this 4ish mile hike. If you can’t get to (or finish) a book, come anyway! You might get a few good book recommendations, and you will always have a chat with other FOW hikers. We will meet at the corner of Northwestern Ave and Forbidden Drive. Dress in layers for the weather and bring along water and snacks as needed. The walk will be at a moderate pace and there will be some hills.
This hike is for ages 18+.
Distance: 4 miles
Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Marisa Miller at [email protected]. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
