Germantown Sound Sessions

Germantown Sound Sessions is an intimate night of live music, art, and good vibes inside a cozy historic building in Germantown. With three live sets from AquilDawud, Fawziyya Heart & Braylynn Nahja featuring powerhouse vocals, dreamy instrumentation, and a smooth blend of soft jazz, indie soul and acoustic R&B , it’s the perfect night for good company and great music. You’ll also find visual art on display, complimentary wine, light bites, and a laid-back BYOB atmosphere, all designed to help you discover your new favorite local artists and settle into a beautiful, creative night out.

Event Details
Tickets: $15 early bird, $20 tickets
Live Music Sets: Doors open at 7pm, show starts 7:30pm. There will be 3 live music performances ranging from 20 – 30 minute sets from AquilDawud, Fawziyya Heart and Braylynn Nahja.
Food & Drink: Complimentary wine will be available. This event is also BYOB. For food, there will be small bites available.
Transportation: Our House Culture Center is easily accessible by bus (route 23). Free & metered street parking is available around the venue.
Accessibility: One entrance has two steps up with no railing. The side entrance has no steps. There are two steps with no railing within the venue space. The Our House restroom is gender inclusive. For all accessibility questions, please contact info@iloveourhouse.org.

AquilDawud – AquilDawud is a soul and R&B artist from Philadelphia. With smooth, soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, the singer-songwriter’s music is honest and uplifting. After dropping two spontaneous singles in 2019 (‘For the Lovers’ and ‘Summer Day’), he’s set to release his debut project, ‘Born To Be Loved’, later this year. AquilDawud grew up in a household bursting with a love of music. As the eldest son of the famous neo-soul duo, Kindred The Family Soul, AquilDawud credits his parents with influencing his passion for music. Inspired by iconic soul artists like Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Musiq Soulchild, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and members of his own musical family, AquilDawud sees music as the ultimate form of self-expression.
Fawziyya Heart – Fawziyya Heart’s foray into the Philadelphia music scene began by collaborating with various bands, immersing herself in the city’s rich tapestry of musical talent. Alongside Grammy Award-winning percussionist Pablo Batista (known for his work with Alicia Keys and Grover Washington Jr.), Fawziyya performs, records, and writes songs as part of the global house music collective, WorldTown Sound System. In 2019, Fawziyya released an EP showcasing her original compositions, featuring a diverse array of Philly talent. Most recently, on Valentine’s Day 2025, Fawziyya released her much-anticipated album Love Notes—a heartfelt and sonically rich offering that blends soulful vocals with lush production, showcasing her continued evolution as an artist and storyteller.
Braylynn Nahja – Braylnn Nahja is a vocalist with a mellow, soulful tone that floats between soft jazz, indie soul, and acoustic R&B. Her sound is smooth, steady, and unmistakably warm—music made for quiet nights and deep grooves. As a trained bodyworker and performer, she blends emotional intelligence and embodied expression, leaving audiences moved in both voice and spirit.

MINK – MINK is a Philly-born painter who explores the styles of neo-expressionism, surrealism, and figurative/ portraiture art- playing with bold colors, brush strokes, and figures in her works. From pen to acrylics, MINK pieces evoke moments from joy to pain, using color stories to push deeper narratives. But most importantly, she is just having fun with paint.

Vanessa Chandler – Vanessa Chandler is a Philadelphia-based MC, Moderator & Live Event Host whose magnetic presence lights up stages across arts, culture, and live music events. Whether she’s facilitating a gallery tour, moderating an artist talk, igniting the atmosphere of a party or setting the tone before an incredible musical performance, Vanessa guides the energy in any space with her unique style and intention, transforming a room of strangers into a captivated, connected audience. She’s hosted for organizations like Sofar Sounds, Red Bull, Temple University, and a vibrant mix of creative venues throughout Philadelphia.

Our House Culture Center – Our House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing a platform and space for artists to network, gain exposure, share skills and knowledge with one another. Our House hosts events, collaborative exhibitions, group projects, and more on a broad range of important issues including environmental, economic, social and cultural sustainability through the development and leveraging of local and regional partnerships.
Vanessa Chandler – Vanessa Chandler is an MC, curator, event producer, and public art project manager committed to amplifying underrepresented voices, making art accessible to all, and connecting everyday people to extraordinary experiences. She’s worked with over 120 local artists and managed more than 35 arts-focused events and initiatives, including a million-dollar grant funded public art project in Germantown. A known mover and shaker, her belief that artists deserve to be seen, celebrated, and compensated has established her as a trusted voice in Philly’s creative ecosystem.
Julian Moore-Griffin – Julian is a prolific storyteller. Whether penning articles spotlighting Philly’s Sneakers of Brotherly Love, social justice in the city, cultural and community happenings or capturing the city’s night life through his camera’s lens, his thoughtful applications give his work a colorful depth and layered meaning.
