Germantown Flood-Resilience & Pollinator Garden Workshop

Join us for a free, hands‑on community workshop focused on helping Germantown residents protect their homes from flooding and create beautiful pollinator gardens that help manage stormwater.
This event is open to everyone, with special outreach to residents living in Germantown’s most flood‑prone blocks, including Chew‑Belfield, Haines & Crittenden, Belfield & Haines, Belfield Avenue (between Penn & Wister), and Wister & Spencer.
Hosted at the historic Francis Cope House at Awbury Arboretum, this workshop brings together experts and community volunteers.
At this workshop, you will:
- Learn how flooding happens in our neighborhood
- Hear about the City’s new flood‑insurance rating discount
- Get information on the Disaster Recovery & Resilience Program (DRRP)
- Learn how native plants help absorb stormwater
- Discover how to build a pollinator garden at home
- Enjoy a light lunch with neighbors
- Take home free native plants, mulch, and supplies
We’ll end the day with an optional tour of Awbury’s beautiful pollinator garden so you can see what these plants look like when they’re fully grown.
Whether you’ve experienced flooding before or simply want to make your yard more resilient and beautiful, this workshop is for you.
