About the Film:
The idea for “Gaining Ground” originated when producer Denise Hurst Green read an article about heirs’ property. She brought the idea to Al Roker Entertainment, and with the support of John Deere’s Tharlyn Fox, filmmaker Eternal Polk was brought on board to write and direct the project. Completed in late 2022, the documentary has been well-received at numerous film festivals in 2023, winning several awards, including Best Feature Film and Best Documentary.
John Deere’s involvement in the film underscores its commitment to important storytelling, aiming to connect audiences with the real-life impacts of heirs’ property issues and spark meaningful change. The film’s goals are to raise awareness about the complexities of heirs’ property, educate people on available resources, and encourage support for organizations helping families secure clear titles and unlock their land’s value for future generations.
