Fruit Tree & Berry Pruning Workshop

Join us for an informative and hands-on intensive workshop on pruning fruit trees and berry bushes.

Workshop Details

Pruning always seems to be a topic that intimidates a lot of people. One wrong snip and you could set your fruit tree back years! But at the same time, once you understand the fundamentals, you’ll realize just how easy and enjoyable pruning really is. So get ready to leave your pruning worries behind and come join us for a day-long pruning workshop where we will co over the fundamentals of pruning fruit trees, nut trees, berry bushes, and other plants!

Workshop Format

The workshop will take place in the afternoon over a period of four hours. We will provide pruning tools, but we encourage you to bring your own pruning tools if you have them. The workshop will cover pruning theory and practice and everyone who attends will have a chance to practice the various techniques and shapes taught in the workshop.

Workshop Schedule

12:45 – 1:00 pm: Meet at Hundred Fruit Farm, sign in for the workshop.

1:00 – 1:30 pm: The why and how of pruning

1:30 – 2:00: Pruning tools overview and maintenance

2:00 – 3:15 pm: GROUP 1: Fruit tree pruning fundamentals and hands-on practice.
GROUP 2: Berry pruning fundamentals and hands-on practice

3:15 – 4:30 pm: GROUP 1: Berry pruning fundamentals and hands-on practice.
GROUP 2: Fruit tree pruning fundamentals and hands-on practice.

4:30 – 5:00 pm: Propagating berry plants from hardwood cuttings

Workshop Cost

The cost for the workshop is $35 per person. Participants will be able to take home berry cuttings scion to propagate their own berry plants! Anyone who can graft is also welcome to take home free scion for grafting.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is geared towards beginners and is basically for anyone and everyone, though we think children under 13 might have a hard time staying focused and engaged for the whole day. Children who attend must be in the supervision of an adult also attending the workshop.
