“Fly Butterfly Fly” A Celebration of Black History is a program of songs and spirituals by black composers celebrating resilience, love, faith, and the rich beauty of the black experience.
Tanisha Anderson is a 2x Grammy Award-winning Mezzo-Soprano and National Marian Anderson Scholar Artist who has sung throughout the East Coast and in Europe with companies such as The Crossing, Opera Philadelphia, The Princeton Festival, The Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds (Charleston, SC & Spoleto, Italy), Berks Opera, Tapestry, VoxAma Deus Ensemble, Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, and New York Choral Society.
Thomas Weaver is an American pianist and composer currently on the Musical Studies faculty at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and on faculty at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. He began his piano studies at the age of eight, giving his first public performance and starting to compose at the age of nine. Thomas Weaver maintains an active solo and chamber career that has included performances in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
