Fall Equinox in the Wissahickon with Melinda Spink and Melvin Chappell

September 23 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Meeting at Houston Playground
There is plenty of nearby free street parking.
There will not be bathroom access during the hike.
Join us on Tuesday, September 23 at 5:00 PM for a guided hike through Houston Meadow, as we welcome the turning of the seasons from summer to autumn. The fall equinox is when day and night are in near-perfect balance and officially arrives the day before our hike.
We’ll walk the trails, taking in the first hints of autumn—golden grasses, migrating birds, and the crisp scent of change in the air. Along the way, we’ll share fascinating facts and lore about the equinox and its significance across cultures.
Come celebrate nature’s balance and the beauty of the change in seasons.
Distance: 2.5 miles
Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.
