Exploring the Trees of Washington Square with Tony Aiello and Andrew Bunting

August 15 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Discover the remarkable diversity of trees that make Washington Square one of Philadelphia’s most treasured landscapes. Join Tony Aiello, Associate Director of Horticulture at the Scott Arboretum & Gardens, and Andrew Bunting, Vice President of Horticulture at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, for a guided walk through this historic 6.4-acre park, home to more than 30 varieties of native and exotic trees and recognized as a Level I Arboretum.

Along the way, explore notable specimens, learn how trees thrive in the urban environment, and experience the beauty and history of one of William Penn’s original public squares. Managed by Independence National Historical Park and cared for in partnership with the Society Hill Civic Association, Washington Square offers a unique blend of horticulture, history, and civic life in Philadelphia.
