Exploring Lenapehoking: The Land of the Lenape

January 7 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Exploring Lenapehoking: The Land of the Lenape – A talk with Archaeologist Matt Bielecki

Join Matt Bielecki for an exploration of the precontact and early colonial Lenape (now referred to as the Delaware) through an examination of their material culture. The Lenape tribe lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Archeological evidence indicates that the Lenape inhabited this region centuries before the Europeans arrived. They hunted and were skilled agriculturalists who preferred to establish villages at the confluence of streams and tributaries.

Matthew Bielecki is an archaeologist, historian, and researcher, with archaeological experience in all stages of fieldwork, laboratory work, and technical report production encompassing the Mid-Atlantic region.
