Meeting at Bells Mill Road and Forbidden Drive
Our meeting location is about a .5-mile hike from both primary parking locations, as Bells Mill Road will be closed from Lykens Lane to Germantown Ave starting around 7:00 am. Regardless of where you park, be sure to refrain from leaving any valuables in your car.
Please note that there will only be porta potty access during the service day.
Even though every day is Earth Day for us as FOW, we always love to do something extra special for the Wissahickon around April 22nd. This year, we’ll be showing some extra love to one of the main roads through our park with a litter clean-up! Come out to help us make our little corner of the world cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful.
All are welcome to attend, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said, this service day may include the following activities:
• Litter clean-up: carrying trash bags up to 20 lbs
• Hiking up to 1 mile (we’ll be traveling up and down Bell’s Mill Road picking up trash)
• Repetitive motions
We provide gloves, tools, and instruction—you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information will be sent by email the day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people, please reach out to us first.
