Come volunteer with us for a community workday at Concourse Lake in West Fairmount Park!

Join Fairmount Park Conservancy staff for a volunteer day at Concourse Lake. Together, we will work on removing invasive species, trail cleanup, woody cleanup along the lake edge, and trash removal. All tools, including gloves, will be provided.

BACKGROUND

Concourse Lake in West Fairmount Park was officially dedicated as a Philadelphia Native Plant Park on June 9, 2012. Since then, a diverse collection of native trees and shrubs has been planted throughout the 14-acre site, enhancing the natural habitat and supporting local biodiversity.

MEETING LOCATION
Please park in the Concourse Lake parking lot (off of S Concourse Dr.) There is ample parking right next to the volunteer site along both sides: S Concourse Drive and Avenue of the Republic. You will see our green tent. We will start our session there and move on to our work locations in the Concourse Lake area.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

  • In general, please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We strongly recommend wearing long pants that cover your ankles and long sleeves to protect your arms.
  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes like boots or sneakers are required (no ballet flats, flip flops, or sandals).
  • Volunteers are also required to wear gloves while working. Gloves will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
  • You may also want to consider wearing a hat or sunglasses.
  • Please bring a reusable water bottle. We will provide jugs for refilling.
  • There are bathrooms (porta-potties) available nearby.

 

PARKING/GETTING THERE: There is plenty of free parking available in the park. As always, NEVER leave valuables in your car!

POSTPONEMENT/CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event of heavy rain or other severe conditions, the event will be canceled and attendees will be notified.
