Community of Practice for Co-op Curious Visual Designers (2nd session

November 16, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Workshop for co-op curious visual designers! How to create rapid response work for our social movements/projects.

***Zoom link will be sent to everyone close to the event time.***

Join us on Thursday, November 16th, from 6:30-8pm ET, for our next Community of Practice session. It will be tailored for co-op curious visual/graphic designers, as well as other visual artists who do similar work. The topic will be on: Creating rapid response work for our social movements/projects!

Definitely a topic with practical skill-sharing, as well, of course, as discussion of our value-based orientation to the work.

As per usual, at the start of the workshop PACA will chat briefly about some of the ins and outs of why co-ops are rad. Since this is the 2nd workshop for co-op curious visual designers, the intro to coops section will cover some different terrain than the workshop did in September.

Then the bulk of the session will be facilitated by co-op experienced Visual Designer, Myrna Rosales. Rosales is a member of Design Action Collective. @designactioncollective Design Action is a worker-owned and managed cooperative and a union shop, which works to “serve movements for social and economic justice”. We’re very excited to have them facilitate this session with us.

Look forward to being in conversation with you, dear co-op curious Visual Designers.

Facilitator bio: Myrna Rosales, they/them, Visual Designer: Myrna has honed in on visual communications for several years to share integral narratives about social-based issue areas and cultural movements. Myrna aims to celebrate and energize the community through applied art while creating resources and visibility to radical social justice, sustainable and equitable systems, and combat ingrained cultural modes and industry white-washing.

Further program info: Our Community of Practice program gives educational sessions to various co-op curious practitioners and professionals, in order to grow an ecosystem of support for cooperative ecosystems, as well as for practitioners to expand their client base with cooperatives.
