Little Whitby Meadow is a hidden gem in Cobbs Creek Park. Since Audubon PA began restoring the Meadow, native flowers have been making a comeback. These plants are crucial to the survival of our butterflies, bees, and birds. Unfortunately, this resurgence of native flora is being threatened by invasive Wild hop (Humulus japonicus), which is smothering everything in its path! Lend a helping hand to our native plants by pulling out some invasive Wild hop with the Cobbs Creek Park Ambassadors!
Location: Meet at the entrance of the Little Whitby Meadow (Start at Cobbs Creek Pkwy & Whitby Ave. Head West on Whitby Ave., towards Yeadon, for about 500 yards. The gated entrance to Meadow is on the North side of the street. Look for the “Cobbs Creek Park Ambassador” sign.)
Note:
– All equipment (work gloves, bags and trowels) will be provided.
– It is strongly recommended that you wear long pants and close-toed shoes, as we will be working in areas with thick vegetation. A long-sleeved, lightweight shirt is also advisable.
