Brittany Ann Tranbaugh, 2021 winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, will open Hansberry Garden & Nature Center’s 2025 Summer Concert Series on Thursday, May 29, at 6 p.m. with a performance in the garden’s Dr. Edward Chun Amphitheater. Brittany Ann Tranbaugh (pronounced TRAN-baw) is a Philadelphia-based songwriter whose queer Americana heartbreaker “Kiss You” won Song of the Year in the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. A favorite at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and WXPN’s World Cafe Live, she tours from the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters. Critics praise her arresting turns of phrase, keen powers of observation, effortless, soaring vocals and irresistible musicality. This show is the first event in Hansberry Garden’s 2025 Summer Concert Series.
Composed of of five diverse shows, the concert series will happen on the final Thursday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. Admission is on a pay-what-you-wish basis. Tickets will be available www.hansberrygarden.org/tickets about a month before each show.
