Botanical Alchemy: A Solar Dye Workshop
Join us for a magical, hands-on solar dyeing experience that blends creativity and nature. Nestled within the lush gardens and riverfront grounds at Glen Foerd, Botanical Alchemy invites you to harness the sun’s energy and the beauty of botanicals to create a blooming dyed textile.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the art of solar dyeing using plant materials and non-toxic, light-reactive dyes. We’ll explore how to layer flowers and foliage to create vibrant, one-of-a-kind designs on fabric, inspired by the natural splendor of Glen Foerd’s landscape. Each participant will leave with a hand-dyed keepsake bandana, 30in x 30in, and the knowledge to continue this beautiful art form at home.
No experience necessary—just a love of nature, art, and a little alchemy.
Carin is a master dyer, artist, and creative founder of Dye on the Side, with over 25 years of expertise in botanical color. After a successful career in corporate fashion, she shifted course to build a nature-centered brand that empowers creativity, calm, and connection. Through immersive workshops and innovative dye experiences, Carin champions sustainable practices, sensory exploration, and the transformative power of color.
