Biking the Circuit Trail Waterways with Lisa Kleiman & Jean McWilliams
May 8 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Regal UA Cinema Parking Lot, Main Street Manayunk
Join us for a spring bike ride along three waterways that link trails in the Wissahickon Valley Park to the Schuylkill River Trail, all part of the vast Circuit Trail Network. We will meet in Manayunk at the Regal Cinema Lot on Main Street and will head toward Wissahickon Valley Park. We will hook onto the Wissahickon Bike Path and ride along Wissahickon Creek up to Historic Rittenhouse Town, and will then head to Forbidden Drive, where we will ride for a short period of time to view some of the historical landmarks. We will retrace our route along the creek and then connect to the Schuylkill River Trail which we will ride down to Boathouse Row and the Art Museum. The route will be mostly paved with the exception of the short segment on Forbidden Drive. We will have a short break and discussion of the current and planned Circuit Trail network before heading back to Manayunk along the same trails. Total bike distance 12 – 13 miles along mostly flat trails, with a few rolling hills mixed in. Safety Considerations – helmets must be worn at all times; riders responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of their own bicycles.
Distance: ~13 miles
Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces).
