August in the Vegetable Garden with Jenia Jolley

August 18 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

August in Zone 7 is a balancing act for gardeners. In this timely onsite workshop, participants will learn how to navigate late-summer challenges, from intense heat and periods of drought to heavy rains and a changing climate.

The class will explore practical strategies for keeping summer crops productive while preparing the garden for a second season of harvest. Learn how to time and plant cool-season vegetables for fall and gain tips for extending productivity and finishing the growing season strong!

Jenia Jolley has been gardening for more than 20 years and is a passionate advocate for community-based horticulture. She serves as an educator, PHS Green City Teacher, PHS Garden Tender, and neighborhood PHS Tree Tender leader in Philadelphia’s Nicetown community. Through her work, Jenia helps connect people to plants, healthy food, and the natural world. Guided by the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh food and peaceful green spaces, she is dedicated to cultivating gardens that nourish both people and communities.
