Celebrate Summer Solstice w/ International Mud Day while working in Phorest. Then stay for short hike to peak at the lightning bugs.
This month we will be celebrating the Summer Solstice by also celebrating International Mud Day while weeding, harvesting, plant ID, labeling, etc. THEN, at 8:30 p.m. we will hike to the meadow to see the lightning bugs.
The Mud pit will be full of natural, rocky, grassy, buggy mud for adults and children to play in while we also work on the Phood Phorest.
Join us for one or all parts of the evening.
No experience necessary, just the interest in learning and enjoying a few hours outdoors working your muscles.
Adults, Teens & Families. Older kids are welcome, but need to be registered with a volunteering adult.
PARKING: Please park in PARKING LOT 1 (GPS 990 W. Northwestern Ave. or 300 W. Northwestern Ave.) This lot can only be accessed by RIDGE AVE. Turn at the Credit Union and continue down the road. You’ll see the meadow then forest then the parking lot on your right.
MEET Christina &/or Megan in the Phood Phorest. The Phorest is located by the Wissahickon Environmental Center on the Red Trail down-hill from PARKING LOT 1 and up-hill from the house. From Parking lot 1, look for the ALL BROWN sign that says “Wissahickon Environmental Center” and follow the arrow down-hill on the dirt trail. Within a minute you will see a black fenced in area. Follow the fence to its gate and join us.
This is an almost weather, all outdoor program.

PHOTOS will be taken of participants during this program for use by the Philadelphia Orchard Project, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, and Friends of the Wissahickon. If you wish to opt out, please let us know before the program.
