A Fall Bike Ride in the Wissahickon with Lisa Kleiman and Jean McWilliams

Meet at Valley Green Inn
Experience the change of seasons along Forbidden Drive with a beautiful bike ride! We will come together in front of the historic Valley Green Inn to begin our bike tour along Forbidden Drive, first heading toward Monoshone Creek. We can celebrate the re-opening of the Lincoln Drive/Ten Box bridge by continuing along the paved Wissahickon Bike path. We will return to Valley Green following the same path and those interested can continue the ride toward the Northwestern Stables end of Forbidden Drive. Ride will conclude back at Valley Green. While this is primarily a fitness and scenery ride, we will make a few stops along the way to appreciate points of historic interest. Total cycling distance options will be 9 – 14 miles on mostly flat gravel and paved surfaces. Join us to enjoy the tail end of the beautiful Wissahickon Fall Foliage with this leisurely cycling experience of the park.
Participants will need to provide their own bicycles and helmets must be worn. In addition, each participant is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of their own bicycle.
Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Distance: Bike ride will be at a moderate pace ( 8 – 10 mph) with stops at areas of historic interest to provide background information and will cover the full length of Forbidden Drive. Participants will be responsible for the safety and maintenance of their own bikes.
Audience: Adults Only
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting COVID-19 systems, please stay home. More information is at fow.org/covid-19.
Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain.
