Philadelphia is a big city, at about 140 square miles, and you could be excused for not having walked through all of it. But if you’re looking for an excuse to walk AROUND all of it, the 10th Walk Around Philadelphia is running from September 10 through 26.
Don’t worry: you won’t cover the 100 miles of the city’s borders in one shot. There are 10 segments to choose from with multiple start times and both clockwise and counterclockwise directions.
Walk organizer JJ Tiziou started the walks around the city 10 years ago, and is closing in on 1,000 miles. You can get started and register for segments by visiting walkaroundphiladelphia.com.
A virtual event launches the walk on September 8, covering an introduction to the walk and updates. An in-person event on October 1 at Cherry Street Pier will close it out. Register for both at fringearts.com. In between, see how much you can see.
