On Wednesday, April 11, The Sustainability Nexus hosts the second installment of the Urban Regeneration Forum. This free session, which also doubles as a part of Temple University’s Campus Sustainability Week, focuses on the theme “Resiliency.”
The term “resilience” has become commonly used in regards to sustainability and as a response to climate change – how do we greater fortify our infrastructure and housing in the face of environmental threats? But this event seeks to look through the lens of regenerative development and design, which doesn’t just sustain infrastructure against potential danger, but thrives and strengthens it as it adapts to disruption.
This event will feature a keynote speech by Jim Newman, founder and principal at Linnean Solutions, and a nationally-renowned thought leader in understanding resilience through the lens of regeneration. The discussion will also feature a panel of local leaders already wading into this exploration on behalf of a regenerative future Philadelphia: Christine Knapp, Director of Sustainability for the City of Philadelphia; Brett Fusco, Manager of the Office of Long-Range Planning for the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC); and Thomas Flaherty, Deputy Director for Planning and Policy for Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA).
This event will offer an explanation of the relationship between sustainability, resilience, and regeneration as concepts, as well as their practical implementations. Learn more and reserve tickets online.
