Next Wenesday, September 7, you can join the “Shale Gas Outrage” Rally to Protect Air, Water, Earth and Human Health in solidarity against the controversial natural gas drilling technique—fracking—in Pennsylvania.
The rally, organized by Philly grassroots advocacy organization Protecting Our Waters, will be held outside the Philadelphia Convention Center where the fracking industry is holding a “Shale Gas Insight” meeting.
Along with Protecting Our Waters, 40 other regional and national organizations have signed on to the event, such as the Delaware Riverkeeper, Food & Water Watch and PennEnvironment. Speakers there will include water systems experts, elected officials, faith-based leaders, citizens affected by fracking, as well as Josh Fox, director of the film Gasland.
An interfaith “Blessing of the Waters” at Penn Treaty Park will follow the rally. The next day the conference “Freedom from Fracking: Building Strategies Together” will be held in Philadelphia. To register visit: https://shalegasoutrage.org/schedule/conference
