Germantown’s West Rockland Street wants you to help grow their block, literally. This Saturday, the street will play host to its first planting day and challenge each house on the street to participate. Residents and interested volunteers are invited to join in and get their hands dirty planting annuals, perennials, shrubs, herbs, vegetables and fruit in front yards to boast the blocks bounty to passers by.
The necessary tools will be provided, so all you have to do is channel your inner green thumb and start chanting to the growing gods. And those with out front yard land need not worry, pots and hanging baskets will be on hand so that you too can join in on the festivities.
Join even if you don’t live (or know anyone who does for that matter!) on West Rockland Street. Lending a few hours of your time will award you a five-piece garden starter tool kit to take home and spruce up your own tired yard.
