There sure are a ton of local Earth Day events this year, but the Second Annual Earth Day Festival & Flea Market in Clark Park seems to have it all. Free workshops will be held on topics such as environmental justice and community gardening, The Food Trust’s weekly farmers market will be up and running and the flea market promises everything you’d expect to find at an open market (and some things you wouldn’t).
The event will benefit the African Village Survival Initiative, an organization that supports black community-led programs for sustainable energy and collective food production. Ultimately the initiative hopes to raise enough funds to build a recording studio for African culture and a community commercial kitchen, as well as establish community gardens.
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. April 17, Clark Park (Baltimore Ave. & 43rd St.)
