Hopefully the recent activity in Washington has gotten you in the votin’ mood: The Philadelphia Orchard Project could use your support. Here is their message:
The Philadelphia Orchard Project needs your vote—we’ve been chosen a as Green Heroes Grant Program finalist! Out of a pool of 398 entries we were selected as one of five finalists in our category.
Now that we’re a finalist it’s up to the public to make us a Green Heroes Grant winner. From March 18 through April 18, 2010, the public will have the opportunity to vote online atwww.facebook.com/greenworks for its favorite finalists. The top two vote recipients in each category will receive a Green Heroes grant. A $15,000 first-prize grant and a $5,000 runner-up grant will be awarded in each of the three categories: youth or youth-led organization, adult or adult-led organization and school program.
$15,000 is a lot of community orchards, so please vote for POP. You need to be on facebook to vote, unfortunately. A good reason to join if you’ve been dragging your heels in the 20th century. You can vote once a day for the next month. Thanks for your support!
