Kid-friendly Hike with Marv Schwartz
Meet at the Valley Green Inn
We will meet at the Valley Green Inn and walk downstream along Forbidden Dr. We will descend the steps to the Livezey dam and and also venture into the seldom-visited Gorgas creek cave. After crossing the stream at the Mt. Airy bridge we will head back upstream on the rocky, hilly and in some places wet, orange trail. After passing inside the enclosed, iron-mesh Fingerspan bridge high above the Wissahickon, we will stop on the steps for a snack break. We will continue on to the historic Glen Fern house and Devils Pool on our return to Valley Green.
Distance: 2.5 Miles
Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Audience: All Ages
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. We ask all event attendees to bring a mask and mask up if a distance of six feet cannot be maintained during the activity. Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks.
