Resource-Mapping and Neighborhood Strategy for Community Self-Reliance & EP
August 11, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Learn about GREAT’s initiative to build emergency preparedness and community self-reliance in Germantown.
This event is NOT in Market Square. EventBrite doesn’t recognize THE PEOPLE’S LOT as a location. It’s across from Market Square, on East Church Lane, just a few doors past Uncle Bobbie’s. It’s an outdoor lot with colorful chair and lots of murals.
We will use GREAT’s Organizer’s Guide for Emergency Preparedness & Community Self-Reliance, switching between presenting content from the Guide to small group / individual brainstorm time. The main topics include:
* Building connections & resource-mapping
* What to do in an immediate emergency situation
* Longer-term resiliency
* There will also be time for an open forum for sharing resources/tips, and identifying next steps.
More specifically we will talk about things like:
* How to connect and build trust with neighbors
* How to create a phone tree
* How to assess the needs and resources of your neighbors
* How to develop a neighborhood action plan for emergencies
